New publication: Fractal SNSPD coupled with multimode optical fiber

Recently, our group collaborated with the group of Professor Val Zwiller at Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden and published a research paper titled "Speckle-Insensitive Fractal Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detector Coupled with Multimode Optical Fiber" in Laser & Photonics Reviews. In this work, we first demonstrate the advantages of fractal SNSPD, which is insensitive to speckles and generates minimal modal noise. We then develope a fractal SNSPD system coupled with 50-micrometer-core, step-index multimode optical fiber (MMF). Under the conditions of fully exciting high-order guided modes in MMF, system detection efficiency at the wavelength of 1530 nm is 78%, and timing jitter is 42 ps.
