中文 / English

We have several outreach activities to disseminate our research results to public, educate youth, and make connections between the research group and the society. We would like to enhance the public awareness of the important impact of scientific research and make the research in the laboratory more accessible for the public, students, and young generation.

  • Journal Club

Our group keeps holding summer journal clubs for several years. Attendees sometimes gather together in the office or sometimes meet virtually online in a regular basis. We together read interesting papers newly published and advanced text books in superconductivity, semiconductors, and quantum mechanics. Most of the attendees are our group members; but students who are not in our group but interested in reading together are very welcome. You can request to join the journal club by sending an email to Professor Hu. Note that attendees are required to commit to attend each meeting on time for the whole season that the journal club is ongoing.

  • OSA and SPIE Student Chapters at Tianjin University

Established in 2015, the OSA Student Chapter and the SPIE Student Chapter at Tianjin University are a very active community for graduate and undergraduate students who are majoring or interested in optics and photonics. Professor Hu is serving as the faculty advisor for these two student chapters. The activities of these two chapters include travelling lectures, youth education, “If I were a photon” speech contest, attending conferences of student leadership, lab visiting, and hardware and software trainings by industrial engineers. The chapters are good platforms for making connections and cultivating leadership. If you are interested in knowing more about the student chapters or joining the chapters, you can visit the website.

  • Research Opportunities for Undergraduate Students

Our group and associated labs are always open for talented and self-motivated undergraduate students to get involved in the cutting-edge research projects. You can check Opportunities in our group webpage to learn more about the possible opportunities for you.
