    Postdocs

Research direction 1: superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors

    Descriptions of the Positions:

We currently have one opening in this research direction, with focus on developing SNSPD systems and applying them in classical and quantum applications. Candidates with research background in superconducting electronics, optics and photonics, and communications will be preferable.

Research direction 2: silicon-photonic devices for mode-division multiplexing systems

    Descriptions of the Positions:

We currently have one opening in this research direction, with focus on silicon-photonic devices for mode-division multiplexing systems. Candidates with research background in semiconductor devices, nanofabrication, and optic-fiber communications will be preferable.

The postdoctoral researchers will work closely with Professor Hu. Tianjin University has some prestigious programs for postdoctoral researchers. Competing salaries will be provided.

If you are interested in working as a postdoctoral researcher in our Nanophotonics Group, please send an email to Professor Hu, attaching (1) a brief letter of motivation, (2) your CV, including the full list of publications, (3) your transcript (since you enter your college), (4) a list of three references and their contacts, and (5) other documents that you think can show your excellence in ONE COMBINED PDF FILE. Your email and the documents can be either in Chinese or in English. An appointment of a conversation on the phone will be scheduled for suitable candidates.

  • Ph.D. Students

    Descriptions of the Positions:

We currently have openings for Ph. D. students. The research directions can be either on nanophotonic devices or on nanofabrication, which are detailed in the research page of our group website. The graduate students will work closely with Professor Hu, have opportunities to learn the processes to make integrated photonic chips by cutting-edge nanofabrication technologies, and have chances to collaborate with outstanding collaborators in other research institutes and with our industrial partners. Candidates majoring in optical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, material sciences, or other relevant fields will be preferable, and research experiences in optoelectronic devices or nanofabrication will be preferable.

If you are interested in pursuing your Ph. D. degree in our Nanophotonics Group, please send an email to Professor Hu, attaching (1) a brief letter of motivation, (2) your CV, (3) your transcript (since you enter your college), (4) a list of three references and their contacts, and (5) other documents that you think can show your excellence in ONE COMBINED PDF FILE. Your email and the documents can be either in Chinese or in English. An appointment of a conversation on the phone will be scheduled for suitable candidates.

You are also required to be clear with the enrollment procedures and policies of Tianjin University. You can find more details from the website of the university.

  • Master-Course Students

    Descriptions of the Positions:

We currently have openings for graduate students for master degrees. The research directions can be either on SNSPDs or on silicon-photonic devices for mode-division multiplexing optical communications, which are detailed in the research page of our group website. The graduate students will work closely with Professor Hu, have opportunities to learn the processes to make integrated photonic chips by cutting-edge nanofabrication technologies, and have chances to collaborate with outstanding collaborators in other research institutes and with our industrial partners. After graduation, students can either advance their studies or work in industry.

If you are interested in pursuing your master degree in our Nanophotonics Group, please send an email to Professor Hu, attaching (1) a brief letter of motivation, (2) your CV, (3) your transcript (since you enter your college), and (4) other documents that you think can show your excellence in ONE COMBINED PDF FILE. Your email and the documents can be either in Chinese or in English. An appointment of a conversation on the phone will be scheduled for suitable candidates.

You are also required to be clear with the enrollment procedures and policies of Tianjin University. There are several channels to become a master-course graduate student, through the open house of our school in the summer, our advisor-group program, recommendation and interview, or the national postgraduate entrance examination. You can find more details from the website of the university.

  • Undergraduate Research Assistants

    Descriptions of the Positions:

Our group and associated labs are always open for talented and self-motivated undergraduate students to get involved in the cutting-edge research projects. In the past, we had several outstanding undergraduate students conducting research in our group. They worked very well with the team, made significant contributions to the projects, and even published journal and conference papers as the leading authors. Afterwards, they either continued to pursue their higher degrees in our group or they were recommended to advance their studies in other prestigious universities worldwide. Sometimes, the research activities can be supported by the undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship training programs. We do not have any requirements on your major or which departments or schools you are currently in for your academic studies; but we do require that you have clear goals, strong motivations, and your talents.

If you are interested in conducting research in our Nanophotonics Group, please send an email to Professor Hu, attaching (1) a brief letter of motivation, (2) your CV, (3) your transcript (since you enter your college), and (4) other documents that you think can show your excellence in ONE COMBINED PDF FILE. Your email and the documents can be either in Chinese or in English. An appointment of a conversation will be scheduled for suitable candidates.
