Prof. Xiaolong Hu
We explore light-matter interactions at nanoscale. In particular, we study the phenomena and principles regarding how light/photons interact with dielectric materials, semiconductors, metals, and superconductors that are designed and made into nanostructures by cutting-edge nanofabrication technologies. We furthermore develop novel optoelectronic devices for information processing, storage, and delivery that directly enable applications in sensing, computation, microscopy, communication, and health care. Our research combines electrical engineering, optical engineering, material sciences, and physics, and helps push forward the boundaries of modern optoelectronics.
